So accurate, this navigational technique can be regarded as Infallible

Here is a short Video made as Classique was motoring down the Auckland Harbour towards Browns Island, seen ahead in the distance, Rangitoto is to Starboard.
Classique was past North Head , almost abeam of Bean Rock & a large container ship was heading South in the main channel,  in the process of turning to her starboard in the direction of the container terminal.
Classique will be crossing that ship’s path & Bolton is using the Line of Sight method to determine risk of collision – validating this accurate Rule of Thumb.
It is shown how positively Classique can be assured the Ship will cross ahead with plenty of clearance, both vessels maintaining their course & speed.
Notice there is no thumb involved as Jim Lott facetiously thought might be the case.
The passage of this ship is observed to be making progress,  passing whatever happens to be in either the background or foreground eg. there is a green channel marker ahead of her & then seen sliding down her hull.
Classique is keeping a steady course towards Browns Island ahead & slightly on the starboard bow.
Speed of both craft is probably very similar to that of Classique & Seaway – 6 & 15 knots.
Barry Young was foolish to denigrate this very valuable navigation technique. Either he didn’t know what he was talking about, in which case he was no fit person to be an Expert Witness of help to the Court or he was deliberately acting in the Role of Hired Gun, nefariously supporting Maritime New Zealand’s case who did nothing to remedy the perjurious evidence given to Judge Davis.
