Salient highlights from this section of Report …
“The important transits required to be used from the photographs involve places not fully identified fully on the charts, so an on-site investigation was necessary.
As a result of this analysis I established the positions of the photos & plotted them on the charts. This was accomplished by studying enlarged copies of the photos on my laptop, comparing them with the objects ashore & establishing visible transit lines or other data.
The enlarged areas of photos on the following pages indicate the method used to find positions 1 & 3. Photo 2 contained less available distinct features so position fixing was more difficult at the accuracy required here, however it is not critical to the conclusions & can be calculated sufficiently from other data if needed. I therefore did not establish in detail the position of Photo 2

A scan of the page is posted here. The photos taken by Julian Joy are rather indistinct but the notation may be of significance to those familiar with the Auckland Harbour features.
If the text on the page is legible, that will be a bonus but suffice it to say, the position of photo 1 was easy to establish with a transit from Sky Tower & other buildings to Seaway & a 2nd transit from the tall Sentinel building over the SW flats of Rangitoto to Seaway.
The position of Seaway given is Lat 36*49.40 S. Lon 174*54.63 E
